Hi there, I use a PC in an Enterprise domain that uses roaming profiles. (user settings is copied to the network at logoff and read during logon). When I have Windowsblinds 5 installed my user profile is no longer being saved to the network! Doesn't matter what skin I use. Even if I use Windows Classic. I uninstalled WB5 and it all worked OK again. Is this a known issue? Any ideas how to tackle it? Thanx in advance for the info. Cheers, Dennis

Is it they are not being saved, or they are not being loaded from the network?
on Dec 14, 2005
It is loaded, but not saved.
The profile isn't updated that way.
I saw nothing out of the ordinary in the userenv.log

Thanx for the reply Neil.

I can confirm this behavior. I have had to cease using the software due to this.

I can confirm that I have this problem too. In order to get around this I rolled back to WindowBlinds 4.6
My concern is that WindowBlinds is becoming more of a nuisance than pleasure. I've also had problems where WB makes Copy Protection fail even though I have the original CDs.

If you watch the logoff sequence you can see that after closing network connection the PC skips updating the settings on the server where the profile is located. Its almost like it tricks the PC into thinking its a Local profile when logging off. This is shame as I love the skins on WinCustomize, but I now have concerns about using any of the stardock products.

This is most def. a bug

WB should not be touching copy protection in anyway.

We will be looking into this profile issue and will hopefully track down the problem & release an update as soon as we can.

Its good to know that the problem is being looked into.

I also promise you that it has inteferred with copy protection.
The two games I have had problems with are: UFO : AfterShock and Championship Manager 5. I know windowblinds caused the problem because I uninstalled it and they then ran.

What if you just unloaded WB? Uninstalling seems extreme.

No I have to actually uninstall it. It took me ages to work it out.
It was suggested to me on a CM5 website. I tried unloading but it did not work. I had to uninstall it.
I also tried unloading for roaming profiles but problem remained. It was originally fixed in version 4.51

4.5.1 Release
-----------------
[04/14/05] Tweaks for some fullscreen/game detection bits.
[04/14/05] Fix for font/color issue with Favorites menu.

However I found the problem again with a new game called UFO : Aftershock. It really annoys me all this copy protection, maybe they should spend more time investing in the games and less on stupid protections which break other apps. I understand its not Stardocks fault but its still annoying.

Any progress on this? It is preventing me from using my podcut, and delaying my renewal which is presently due.

Hi Stardock,

Are you able to reproduce the problem?
If you need more (technical) information to solve this issue, please say so, I'm glad to help.

I don't use WB5 now too. Just as Demonicbunny. But, as a skinning junky, I start to temble and shake at the look of the lack of skinning...

So, any progress?

Have you tried the latest beta build?

We tweaked some code to see if that would help.

Tried version 5.00.001 (that's the latest version I get through Object Desktop).
That version still has the "not saving roaming profiles" problem.
Is there a newer version?

and to answer your other question: just unloading (or in this case not letting it start at startup) WB5 doesn't help either

Anyone tested the new update of WB5 (v5.00.001) in a domain that uses roaming profiles?

FWIW, my current WB5 build in SDC is 5.00[b].010 . . . No roaming domain though.
